Delete your account

Delete inside the app

This is the fastest way. You must be signed in.

1. Open ShadowTalk.
2. On the home screen, tap the three-dot menu in the top-right of the app bar.
3. Tap Delete Account.
4. Confirm. Deletion starts immediately and cannot be undone.

Request deletion by email

If you cannot open the app, email privacy@shadowtalk.tech with the subject “Delete ShadowTalk account”. Include the username and, if you registered with them, the email address or phone number on the account so we can verify it is yours.

Email requests are completed within 30 days of verification. In-app deletion is processed immediately.

Data that is deleted

When your ShadowTalk account is deleted, we remove from our servers:

• Your profile (username, hashed password, email, phone number)
• Direct messages you sent or received, and their uploaded attachments
• Groups you created, including those groups’ messages and attachments
• Your membership in groups you did not create
• Encryption device records and public keys registered for your account
• Message envelopes addressed to your devices
• Call-event records stored against your account
• Any leftover records from older collection features, if they exist

Data that is not deleted from our servers

• Ciphertext messages you sent in a group you did not create remain for the remaining members.
• Copies of messages and files already downloaded onto other people’s devices stay on those devices. We cannot erase them.

Retention after deletion

Operational backups and web-server logs may keep residual account identifiers or IP addresses for up to 30 days for security, fraud prevention, and legal compliance. After that period those copies are removed. We do not keep your account active during that window; the live database row is deleted when the request is processed.
